PROGRAMME OFFICER - ASIA / MENA

Salary:
£30,000 - £32,000 per annum


Hours:
Full time (37.5 hours per week), fixed term for 18 months. Flexible hours considered.

Regional Director - Asia / MENA

Location:
Truro, Cornwall, or Remote Working (with regular travel to Truro)


Travel:
Work away from home, this may be UK or overseas training or in-country Programme support. You may be required to deploy for up to 40% of your time in any calendar year.


Role purpose:


Reporting to the Regional Director, the Programme Officer will work closely with Programme Managers to support ShelterBox programmes within the region.

This will involve support to countries such as Pakistan, Yemen and Syria.

The type of support will be varied but may include elements such as support in development of project documents such as proposals and agreements, support in analysis of data coming from the field such as through post-distribution monitoring (PDM) and in other areas related to the project cycle.


The Programme Officer is a deployable role and will likely include travel to crisis-affected countries to support programme delivery and emergency responses.

This may include travel to areas with damaged and missing infrastructure, few facilities and communities experiencing severe trauma.


Who are we looking for?


ShelterBox is seeking a delivery focused, pragmatic and proactive individual with excellent attention to detail with awareness of international affairs.

The right person will have experience of working successfully in close-knit and multidisciplinary teams, project development and supporting day-to-day management of programmes.

This role would be ideally suited to someone with experience of working for a humanitarian organisation who has the passion and interest to build their knowledge and skills around tools and processes which enable quality programme interventions


Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Support programme delivery and deputise for Programme Managers as required, under supervision of Regional Director and Programme Managers.
  • Provide administrative support, such as notetaking, facilitating workshops and supporting travel arrangements.
  • Support safety and security / travel planning.
  • Report to internal and external audiences on programme delivery by providing updates via briefings, presentations and written reports, including supporters and donors.
  • Support best practice in project implementation, such as taking a role in collating lessons learnt across the region in current and past programmes and supporting delivery of training to Partners
  • Monitor disasters and conflict and undertake relevant research.
  • Monitor programme activities and financials to track implementation and expenditures under direction of Programme Managers. Support compliance with donor conditions and requirements.
  • Provide surge support to emergency responses
  • Support networking and coordination with nongovernmental organisations, governments, coordination mechanisms, and other actors.
  • Work collaboratively with partner organisations, including local, national and international NGOs.
  • Support emergency preparedness initiatives in the region.
  • Ensure adherence to ShelterBox operational procedures and policies.
  • Represent ShelterBox in any capacity as required.

  • Any other duties as required which are deemed appropriate to the level and grade of the post.
