Here at Peabody, we have an opportunity for a
Housing Support Worker (Homeless Service) on a Permanent basis at one of our homeless schemes in based in Islington, known as_ Eagle Dwellings.

_

At this scheme we focus our support on people who are experiencing multiple disadvantages or have had traumatic experiences. Many of them have experienced homelessness, substance misuse, involvement with the criminal justice system and mental ill health.

  • Eagle Dwellings_ close to Angel and Old Street tube stations. It is a residential scheme which has 29 selfcontained flats and a large communal area.
  • This scheme is supervised across 7 days, 24 hours per day._ A typical week will involve working 5 shifts, no more than 37.5 hours per week and will involve working some weekends and evenings.

What we're looking for:


  • Have you got the life skills and experience it takes to support our homeless customers in their journey towards independent living?
  • Are you an enthusiastic support worker with a strong desire to work with vulnerable and complex adults to achieve positive outcomes?
  • Can you work just as effectively as part of a team as you can by yourself?
  • Do you have great IT (Word//Excel) and communication skills with a knack for creating good professional working relationships?

A bit about the role:


As a
Housing Support Worker (Homeless Service), you will be working with a team of_ highly _motivated _compassionate_, and _dedicated colleagues_ supporting a caseload of adult customers who are homeless.

You will need to meet with each customer weekly to help them with their_ goals _and discuss their _progress_.

And, when someone's ready to move on, we will rely on you to _help _them access the _housing register or look for suitable rented accommodation.

Relevant experience would be an advantage, as would an understanding of safeguarding and knowledge of the benefit system.


But just as important may well be skills and knowledge which you have in other areas which you can share to foster positive experiences for our customers with _energy_ and_ enthusiasm_ whilst being_ kind _and _empathic.

  • Supporting customers to access housing.
  • Helping our customers to understand housing benefits available to them.
  • Ensuring our customers live in a safe and secure environment.
  • Undertaking health and safety assessments.
  • Completing risk assessments.
  • This role will require a Enhanced DBS check._
  • You must also be able to work shifts which include early, late and nights._
