To be responsible for providing an effective and efficient administrative and support service to the Cellular Pathology Department.The post holder will be required to work independently and exercise a significant level of initiative in organising the administrative workload of the Department.
To work with the Cellular Pathology Management team to ensure the laboratory team are managed appropriately and efficiently, providing an additional level of support to all staff within the department.
To assist in the recruitment process within the department.
To provide administrative support with project work.

To receive and process all incoming mail to the Department, acting independently on correspondence, and bringing relevant matters to the timely attention of the management team and the Consultants.
To deal professionally with complex, sensitive issues e.g. changes in staff personal circumstances, complaints, disciplinary matters in accordance with Trust procedures.
To be responsible for the implementation of effective communication systems, including undertaking 1:1 meetings and monthly review meetings.
To ensure a high quality service is delivered at all times.
To be responsible for the maintenance of Cellular Pathology personal files and undertake routine administrative personnel procedures.
Assisting the Service Lead in the administration of the recruitment of technical staff in Cellular Pathology which includes all documentation associated with recruitment.
Monitoring of Cellular Pathology staff holidays and sickness absence data.
To co-ordinate, organise and maintain records of achievement of mandatory training for the whole department.
To assist the Management team in maintaining up to date job descriptions and staff employment.
To assist the Management team in the induction of all new staff.
To carry out return to work interviews and Health & Well-being reviews, ensuring they are documented correctly and complete appropriate escalation to the Operational Managers.
To produce accurate and high quality type written material, individual reports and maintain the departmental sickness proforma for weekly and monthly submission.
Provide a comprehensive and proactive personal assistant service to the laboratory management team.
