  • Job description
  • These roles are key to delivering the Environment Agency's (EA) Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) function. You will be working on;
  • Our Planning and/or permitting regulatory workstreams
  • Engaging members of the public and flood groups to give flood risk advice and guidance
  • EA and Local Council flood risk management projects, strategies and plans
  • Hydraulic flood mapping and modelling data
You will be based in one of the EA's Thames area, Partnerships and Strategic Overview (PSO) teams. You will have a designated base location but will also work from home.

  • The team
  • PSO teams have a wide remit in flood risk management. Amongst other things we,
  • Work with Local Councils, community flood groups, other partners to deliver FCRM outcomes
  • Are a statutory consultee under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, providing flood risk advice
  • Regulate Flood Risk Activities under the Environmental Permitting Regulations (England and Wales) 201
  • Assist the response to flooding and other environmental incidents


  • Experience/skills required

  • You will be passionate about the environment and helping to reduce flood risk for local communities. Be organised and self motivated with an efficient, rational approach to workload prioritisation.
You will have experience in one or more of the following fields:

  • Town and Country Planning Act 1990;
  • Environmental Permitting Regulations (England and Wales) 2016;
  • Community Engagement;
  • Hydraulic modelling/Geographical Information Systems;
  • Delivery of capital projects/project management.
