Cleaning Operative - Willow Trees Community Centre
Responsible to:
Asset and Maintenance Manager
Job Purpose:
Responsible for the cleaning of Willow Trees Community Centre and Nursery.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Emptying waste bins or similar receptacles, transporting waste material to designated collection points including clinical waste bags.
- Sweeping, mopping and vacuuming of all floor surfaces.
- To dust, damp wipe, wash or polish furniture, ledges, windows, windowsills, skirtings, external surfaces of cupboards, radiators, light switches, shelves and fitments.
- To replenish consumable items (soap, toilet rolls, paper towels).
- To clean toilets, hand basins and sinks.
- Correct use of chemical agents in accordance to safe practices and COSHH guidelines.
- Cleaning duties will be required but not limited to: Midwife room, 3 toilets, 2 Nursery Manager offices, Reception area, Entrance Foyer/porch, hallway between two main halls, Squirrels nursery area (2 x rooms not required).
- Report any defects or damage to the Asset and Maintenance Manager.
- To undertake all other duties commensurate with the level and purpose of the role.
Essential Knowledge
- Understanding of GDPR and confidentiality.
- Competent and safe working within COSHH guidelines.
- Knowledge of Riddor.
- Able to follow the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
Essential Experience
- Previous experience of working in a cleaning role.
Skills/Abilities
- Able to organise own workload without close supervision; to work on own initiative; to accept responsibility and be accountable for their own work.
- Understanding of the needs of our clients, the barriers they face, the disadvantages they have experiences and the challenging behaviours they may display.
- Able to complete basic paperwork.
- Able to demonstrate good values enhancing the reputation of the organisation.
- Show compassion and understanding to our service users.
- To be able to clean to a high standard.

Principal Terms and Conditions of Appointment
- Part time, permanent position (20 hours weekly, including breaks).

- Paid annual holiday entitlement equivalent to 20 days (prorata), rising progressively to 25 days after five years, together with 8 UK public holidays (based on working over five days weekly).
