ABOUT THE ROLE

  • We're looking for a Workshop and Permit Controller to be the first point of contact for visitors to the engineering department at our Whittlesey site to include contractors, deliveries, & collections. You'll maintain the workshop to a professional standard, as well as striving to ensure that all of the engineering KPI's (key performance indicators) are met and improved on by ensuring that tools and plant are available at all times, helping to reduce down time. You'll also
  • Check inductions are in date and RAMS are applicable to the task in hand
  • Issuing of permits to include confined space & hot works
  • Use the 'SAP' system to enter work orders, job requests and create stores pick tickets on behalf of the engineering shift teams
  • Create purchase orders to replace any damaged workshop items, consumable spares, stores returns and emergency parts requirements
  • Issue isolation locks, chains, hasps etc and ensure that the lock off register is completed correctly and that locks are returned to their cabinet on completion of the works
  • Issue ladders and scaffold ladder locks and ensure that these are recorded in the register
  • Ensure that all ladders have been inspected monthly
  • Ensure sufficient stock of all permit books is available at all times
  • Manage the tool room and tool issuing procedure to ensure that the engineering team have every means at their disposal to tackle any breakdowns in a quick, efficient manner
  • Ensure that all of the LOLER and press equipment are kept in good order in addition to all other legislative equipment to include grinders, drills & guillotine
  • Ensure that the workshop & external compound areas are kept tidy and audit ready at all times and be available to conduct tours of these areas during site audits explaining all of our systems confidently

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • You'll be experienced working within an FMCG engineering department, with good working knowledge of permits and current legislation. We're looking for a strong communicator and collaborator, working with multiple different stakeholders both internally and externally. You'll also
  • Have experience of permit writing and use of CMMS systems
  • Confident to delegate and organise others
  • Understanding of audit requirements
  • Good attention to detail and computer skills including MS Office and Teams

WHERE WILL I WORK?
You'll be based at our Whittlesey plant in Peterborough.

If you've spotted our three wind turbines, then you'll know where we are With about 400 employees on site, we're one of our largest plants across the GB business.

Our Whittlesey plant is where we make our famous French Fries as well as our chilled products, such as our Shake Shake Fries.
