An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Decontamination Supervisor to provide support for the provision of an efficient and safe endoscope decontamination service.


We are looking for a dynamic people person who will be responsible for providing senior support gained through their previous experience to the decontamination technicians and to the delivery of a quality service on a day to day operational basis.

The Decontamination Supervisor will in turn be supported by the Decontamination Quality Manager and the Decontamination Manager.


The successful applicant must have:


  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required
  • Good computer skills (MS Office package)
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organisational ability


Working hours will be dictated by the needs of the service therefore applicants should have flexibility in when they are available to work.

The units currently work weekends, day shifts and weekday evening shifts

  • To supervise, organise and allocate work within the Endoscope Decontamination Unit.
  • To ensure Departmental Standard Operating Procedures are adhered to by all Decontamination Technicians in accordance with Quality Management Systems
  • To decontaminate, store and transport flexible endoscopes to agreed departmental standards that are compliant with National and European standards, regulations and legislation
  • To ensure all equipment used to decontaminate flexible endoscopes is used correctly by the decontamination technicians as per manufacturers' instructions
  • To ensure all equipment used for decontamination is fit for purpose and safe for patient use by reviewing test results and signing off the test results where appropriate (daily and weekly checks)
  • To have a knowledge and understanding of legislation, regulations and best practice requirements regarding decontamination and implement these standards to provide a quality decontamination service
  • To ensure by supervising the decontamination team that there is an efficient and responsive decontamination service that will support patient and staff safety
  • Assist the Decontamination Manager/Decontamination Quality Manager with the operation of the department
  • Undertake HR duties (return to work interviews, appraisals, staff communication meetings)
  • To ensure decontamination staff/user department staff are trained and remain competent
