Primary Care Digital Support Officer


REPORTS TO:
I.T. and Analytics Manager


HOURS: 37.5 per week


SALARY:
£30,000 to £35,000 (based on experience)


CONTRACT TYPE:
Permanent


The Role:

Islington GP Federation (IGPF) is looking for a Digital Support Officer who will be part of IGPF I.T. and Analytics team.

The post holder will be a key support role, directly working with the I.T. and Analytics Manager and with colleagues across an exciting range of services provided by IGPF.


Current programs of work being undertaken by the team include:

  • Standardised and automated patient recall functionality
  • Ehub single point of access (SPA) pilot for Islington South Primary Care Network (PCNs)
  • EMIS expertise and engagement across a number of EMIS platforms
  • Optimising current EMIS searches and insight reporting


IGPF is working closely with primary care colleagues to deliver ambitions of excellent provision of care and also looking at opportunities 'at scale' optimising existing systems and presenting new solutions.


The post holder will have extensive EMIS knowledge and be able to deliver supportive interventions to EMIS users in primary and community care.

The post holder will also provide EMIS training to a wide range of stakeholders.

Islington GP Federation (IGPF) is a growing organisation representing 31 practices; we have established ourselves as a leader in new ways of working, including running Islington's extended access primary care services (I: HUB) as well as supporting the Islington Primary Care Networks (PCNs).


Our current range of services includes I:

HUB, Community Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT), Integrated Community Gynaecology, practice-based pharmacists and a range of practice support mechanisms.


IGPF works very closely with a range of partners including the regional commissioning group, NHS England, Healthy London Partnership, Public Health, local hospitals such as UCLH and the Whittington Health and the London Borough of Islington.


IGPF is the host organisation for the Primary Care Network (PCN) workforce and the Islington Training Hub, and has been working for over two years to create training and development programmes that meet the needs of staff working in primary and community care settings.


Responsibilities:


EMIS Expertise:


  • Be an EMIS expert and be a first point of call for resolution of EMIS issues within IGPF
  • Deliver EMIS training to agreed individuals and groups (e.g. ARRS roles, PCNs, administrative staff working in GP practices)
  • Ensure all training delivered is of high quality with up to date materials and evaluated identifying key areas for improvements
  • Write EMIS searches and provide high quality reports and data in a clear readable easy to present format
  • Work closely with I.T and Analytics Manager and Data Analyst to identify opportunities for improvement in EMIS related outputs
  • Be part of a program of ongoing qualitative review of existing EMIS searches

Technology and Analytics opportunities:


  • Assist in the performance and maintenance of existing technology solutions across IGPF
  • Explore and evaluate new digital technologies by looking at costs, functionality and associated benefits
  • Implement agreed new technology solutions and support optimisation of existing ones across wide range of IGPF stakeholders
  • Support IGPF Data Analyst with dashboard development and maintenance

IT support and Customer care

  • Support the delivery of IT projects across IGPF developing and implementing agreed use cases
  • Update and monitor project plans for agreed projects
  • Support building and maintaining IT policies and guidance
  • Assist in providing frontline support to users of systems in response to service requirement
  • Provide high quality, professional and customer focused experience. This may include analysing situations, information and supporting resolution
  • Escalate any potential or knows issues relating to the operation of Digital Systems as soon as these are detected
  • Actively maintain knowledge of systems through continuous proactive learning
  • Promote and implement appropriate use of patient data in line with GPDR and Data Protection Act requirements
  • Be a positive, proactive influence on colleagues and the wider team
