The post will commence in August 2024 for a period of 12 months in the first instance.

This role has the opportunity for a 50% slot on the Medical Registrar oncall rota.


The post is particularly tailored to pleural sub-specialty, with expectation to be competent in all pleural procedures (including indwelling pleural catheters) by the end of the post.

There will be opportunity to assist in medical thoracoscopy and we would support training for competence in the procedure.

There is ample opportunity to develop skills in general respiratory, both with inpatient and outpatient management.

As a University Teaching Hospital there is also the potential to become involved in research projects. Consequently this post will be ideal for those wishing to progress to speciality training in the future.


Alternatively it will be suitable for more experienced doctors who wish to developing their training with a view to gain a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration.


You will be joining a team of 8 Respiratory Consultants and 1 Nurse Consultant with a wide range of sub-speciality interests.

If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have a standard/enhanced DBS.

This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 month.
