    Job description:


    • We are advertising an exciting role in the Strategic Finance team and are looking for an ambitious individual to help shape the future of DSIT spending.
    • We are an inclusive and fast paced team at the centre of DSIT finance. We support Ministers and the Executive Committee on DSIT's financial strategy, working between the technical and the political to shape Government policies across the Department. We coordinate policy funding and operational expenditure, lead on fiscal events such as the upcoming Spending Review, and maintain oversight of the inyear position.

    Person specification:


    • Strategic Finance partnering of DSIT's Science, Innovation and Growth (SIG) group. Building an indepth knowledge base of SIG, understanding their performance, risks, and opportunities through continual relationship building to ensure effective budget management.
    • Support of central the Strategy & Planning Team (SPT = Finance, Strategy, HR, Analysis). Collaborating and building your network to deliver through others, working in a reciprocal manner towards joint objectives. Regular Directorlevel exposure through secretariat responsibilities.
    • Lead on central contingent liability processes that support Financial and Management Accountants. Monitor and update central tracker through quarterly commissions to Finance Business Partners.
    • Lead on aspects of Fiscal Events such as Budgets, transforming information into insight to drive these decisionmaking processes and inform financial planning. Participate in the running of the upcoming Spending Review, helping to shape DSIT's financial future through financial baselining and coordination of bids.
    • Regular engagement with the Treasury on financial planning, leading on adhoc commissions and funds. Developing relationships to resolve financial issues on behalf of SIG and SPT.
    • Use commercial acumen to champion a culture of effective decisionmaking and risk management that underpins strong financial planning for both 'business as usual' and new programmes. Engage as an intelligent customer of financial systems, proactively participating to help improve the quality of information available to the team and DSIT stakeholders.
