About the role:
The fixed-term role is to cover sabbatical leave, starting on 1 January 2024.

As a Tutor in Fashion Art Direction, you will be a creative and collaborative individual, able to demonstrate professional teaching experience related to producing original, inspiring and directional creative direction in a fashion context.

Your experience and skills will be underpinned by sound theoretical knowledge and/or have high quality academic research or knowledge exchange in the area.


  • Your expertise will be within the area of Fashion Art Direction with an understanding of creative direction, campaign development and management, image creation and visual fashion communication though photography, casting, styling, filmmaking, graphics, digital fashion, illustration and/or set design.
  • You will carry a full teaching workload and be expected to contribute to unit delivery, assessment and personal tutoring.

In outline, the successful applicant will have:

Essential Skills:

  • A good first degree together with a PhD (or nearing completion) in a relevant discipline, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience of undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching in Higher Education
  • Expertise in the area of Fashion Art Direction with an understanding of creative direction, campaign development and management, image creation and visual fashion communication though photography, casting, styling, filmmaking, graphics, digital fashion, illustration and/or set design.
  • Desirable:
  • A PGCE, Certificate of Education, PGCLTHE or membership of the Higher Education Academy.
  • Membership of relevant Professional bodies, demonstrating professional standing.
  • Successfully publish results of research to the REF, in peer reviewed journals or monographs, or publish/exhibit professional practice
