We are recruiting on behalf of our client, who is looking to recruit an Electrician in Evesham.


Successful applicants must:

  • HNC, HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Associate Member of the Institution of Lighting Engineers
  • Working towards full membership of ILP and registration as an Incorporated Engineer
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Good level of computer literacy in Microsoft Office
  • Good all round project management knowledge
  • Ability to produce reports and liaise effectively with clients
  • Comprehensive knowledge of British & European electrical and lighting Standards
  • Application and promotion of energy reduction techniques
  • Good understanding of Traffic Signs Manual
  • Experience in production of Highway lighting designs in accordance with BS548
  • Conversant with lighting design software i.e. Lighting Reality and KeyLIGHTS.
  • Experience in the production of cable network designs in accordance with BS767
  • Experience in the delivery of night time light measurements to ensure scheme compliance
  • Experience in proving on site surveys
  • Experience of Local Government and HA design standards
  • Experience implementing QA standards
  • An understanding of the environmental impact of lighting and light pollution
  • Must be conversant with relevant environmental legislation

Duties of the role include:

  • Assisting the Electrical & Lighting Manager ensuring that the Electrical and Lighting Design Service is successfully delivered
  • Deputising for the Electrical & Lighting Manager as and when required
  • Delivering lighting designs meeting the requirements of the contract
  • Producing detailed road lighting designs in accordance with relevant standards and codes of practice
  • Producing detailed electrical designs for private cable networks in accordance with relevant legislative standards
  • Producing detailed electrical designs of exterior lighting installation cable supply networks and controls in accordance with the relevant legislative standards
  • Ensuring continuous awareness of client requirements and potential changes to projects and advise the Project Manager in regards to change control and implications
  • Providing lighting design support to other Amey contracts as required
  • Ensuring design solutions incorporate best value engineering principles
  • Undertaking comprehensive electrical and lighting site surveys including night time lighting assessments when required
  • Preparing impact assessment reports, conceptual designs and feasibility studies
  • Producing reports, estimates, specifications and contract documents
  • Awareness of developments in lighting industry and new technology
  • Supporting growth of the business, in particular the provision of Electrical and Lighting design services to both new and existing clients
  • Liaising with clients, professional organisations, contractors, subconsultants and other design teams
  • Ensuring compliance with Integrated Management System, relevant Health & Safety legislation, particularly the CDM regulations
  • Allocating work to design staff
  • Developing, mentoring and advising junior staff
  • Ensuring work is undertaken to programme and budget
This position is a temporary role for 3 months, working full time Monday-Friday 7.5hrs a day, paying £12.83ph.
