Description

The research team of Professor Laura Machesky is seeking to recruit a postdoctoral fellow with a background and interest in cancer research and cell biology for a multidisciplinary project.

- such as changes in the mechanical properties of the matrix and starvation for nutrients can drive cancer cells to become more aggressive. We are also studying how cancer cells can fuel their survival and migration even in nutrient poor conditions using macropinocytosis to switch to alternative nutrient sources. Macropinocytosis also regulates signaling, via trafficking of surface receptors on cells. Many cancer types show enhanced macropinocytic uptake, which is driven by enhanced RAS signaling and in particular, KRAS, which drives the vast majority of pancreatic cancers.
