Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm (one hour lunch)
Salary:
£22,000 per annum
Main
Responsibilities:
- General maintenance and custody of sales and purchase ledgers to include new account creation, ledger tidy, reconciliations, net settlement adjustment journals, unallocated cash, ledger closures and daily sales and purchase invoice imports.
- Daily update of "rates of exchange" information onto the company's Operations software package.
- Use online banking software to identify customer receipts and supplier payments and post / allocate on Pegasus Opera accounting software.
- Use bank credit card machine to recover customer credit card payments when required.
- Daily processing of "cost of sale" supplier invoices on SCS Operations software and "overhead" supplier invoices on Pegasus Opera accounting software.
- Create supplier payment templates using the online banking software and generate payments on same, when required.
- Maintenance of "in house" purchase invoice query registers to identify and log query invoices. (includes weekly review of "open" invoices on company's Operations software package).
- Address supplier queries with operations staff / suppliers and seek resolution of same in a timely manner.
- Monthly supplier performance quality checks to facilitate company quality accreditation.
- Reconciliation of several nominal ledger accounts as requested by Company Accountant intercompany balances matrix, claims, duty and VAT, petty cash, etc.
- Management of Director & Manager corporate credit card statements and employee expenses as required (includes collection of VAT receipts etc.)
- Preparation of the monthly BACS run and foreign currency transfers following agreed settlement with suppliers etc.
- Effective communication skills with an enquiring mindset
- Demonstrate evidence of previous bookkeeping knowledge, or experience
- Ability to demonstrate good time management skills
- Ability to work unsupervised and be a team player
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- 5 or more GCSEs at grade C or better (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics Desirable:
- Good standard of general education preferably to A Level standard (or equivalent)
- Experience of the logistics industry
- Practical experience of job costing systems
- Experience of preparing and working with logistics documentation
- Willingness and ability to learn new tasks and procedures quickly
- Working knowledge of Pegasus Opera integrated accounting systems, or equivalent
