Join the high-performance team responsible for managing Scottish Enterprise's portfolio of equity investments. This role provides an exciting development opportunity and exposure to investment into growth-focused Scottish businesses.

Working alongside private sector investors across a range of sectors, you'll manage a portfolio of investments.

These will include some of Scotland's most ambitious and high-growth potential companies - to deliver economic benefits for Scotland, and commercial returns for Scottish Enterprise.


The role:


Reporting to the Equity Portfolio Team Leader, you'll be responsible for maintaining, managing, monitoring and reporting on a portfolio of approximately 25 equity investments.

You'll also be involved in other areas of the team's workload.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with executive teams, company boards, and a wide variety of investors throughout the duration of Scottish Enterprise's investment.
  • Onboarding new companies into your portfolio, observing board meetings, and making sure that Scottish Enterprise's investment is appropriately managed through followon investment, restructures, refinancings, investor consents, and exit processes, liaising with external advisers as required.
  • Managing the portfolio in line with Scottish Enterprise policies and procedures, including investment approval processes, the completion of portfolio valuations, and adherence to internal compliance processes.

Who we're looking for:

You'll be able to manage a dynamic portfolio of equity investments throughout the term of Scottish Enterprise's investment. You'll have experience of working in a fast-paced environment and be used to prioritising a busy workload.

Your skills, abilities and experience should include:

  • Educated to degree level or hold an appropriate professional qualification in accountancy, banking, or investment.
  • Experience of working with and assessing companies with regards to equity investment.
  • Strong relationship management skills.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.

Ideally, but not essentially, you'll also have:

  • An ability to manage and prioritise workloads to tight deadlines.
  • A willingness to learn, be adaptable and work as part of a team.
  • Strong time management skills with a flexible approach to work.
  • Experience of working in a private equity or investment portfolio management related role.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to other Scottish Enterprise offices and locations as required.
