The opportunity:
We have an

exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our
growing design team. As an Associate structural packaging designer, we will work together to provide you with the tools and knowledge of our
business objectives, technical processes, and manufacturing. Then the
stage is yours to show us your creativity and problem-solving skills. You can
expect to get heavily involved in a wide range of packaging related projects.


How you will impact WestRock:


Concept to Creation - You must be comfortable leading projects from initial concept stage through to developing workable and producible packaging solutions that meet the requirements of our factories and customer's needs.

Innovative and practical thinker - You will not only be able to create highly innovative solutions but also be able to support our customers with the development / value engineering of their existing packs.

Prototyping - You must be a hands-on designer capable of transforming your design visions into reality. You will be happy making numerous iterations to your designs to provide our clients with the best possible solutions.

Presentation/Communication - You must be able to clearly communicate your designs/thought process verbally and visually as well as lead presentations to team members, suppliers and our clients.

Manage multiple projects - You must have good time management skills to be able to manage and lead multiple projects at various stages for numerous clients ensuring we meet agreed deadlines.

Collaboration - Along with being able to lead projects comfortably individually you will also be required to work as part of a team with designers across the group to help resolve issues and provide solutions for our customers.

Research - We would like you to have a keen interest in researching new materials, processes, and technologies available to ensure we are always offering our clients the best possible solutions.

Proactive - You will need to have an opportunist mindset and always be looking for potential new business opportunities, seeking to learn more from the team or highlighting areas where the team or the business can improve on.


What you need to succeed:

A degree in a relevant product/industrial/packaging design discipline or equivalent.
At least 0-3 years' experience in a Packaging Design role.
A proactive mentality with the ability to drive new ideas and designs.
You must be a natural problem solver that is always seeking alternative ways to resolve issues or create solutions.

A keen eye for detail is required to ensure our client's customers are provided with the best possible user experience.

You must be self-motivated with a proactive work ethic to work individually or collaboratively on a project whilst maintaining the positive 'can do' attitude in the studio.

Strong understanding of technical processes to understand design constraints coupled with the ability to provide solutions to overcome such issues.

Good communication skills both verbally and visually to clearly explain/present your designs.
Software - Adobe creative suite Illustrator/Photoshop, 3D CAD (preferably SolidWorks or Cinema 4D), Artios CAD preferable but not essential.
