An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the Medical Same Day Emergency Care Unit and Discharge Lounge at the Royal Oldham Hospital.

The post holder will provide a wide range of administrative and clerical duties to the ward / unit staff.

They will be responsible for the safe keeping and availability of all clinical records relating to patients and the smooth running of the ward / department office.

They will also provide general assistance to the ward / unit staff.

The role may require working a mixture of long days and short days.

General clerical duties, as required, within the department.

Tracking of patients journey through the Unit

Ensure patient case notes are available, maintained and up to date.

Data input on the Patient Administration System (PAS), Symphony and any other relevant Trust systems

Respond to telephone enquiries from hospital staff and patients efficiently and conscientiously.

Provide general non-clinical support to the multi-disciplinary team working on both Medical Same Day Emergency Care and Discharge Lounge.

Provide general non-clinical support to patients, clients, relatives and carers.

Deliver and collect patient's case notes, and if applicable x-ray's, and investigations results from various locations throughout the hospital

Track patients notes to the appropriates areas once discahrged

Accurately file reports, notes and results efficiently.

Participate in any new directions, which ensure smooth running of the service.


The post holder will show initiative and carry out their duties safely and competently and where necessary, train new staff.

Attend and participate in regular staff meetings.
