The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) plays a key role in keeping our country safe by managing and looking after the Defence estate and everyone who depends on it.
This estate is one of the UK's largest and most diverse property portfolios and enables our armed forces and Defence civilians to live, work, train and deploy, all with sustainability in mind.
From net carbon-zero accommodation to runways for F35 fighter jets, our work is exciting and totally unique, and our people operate both in the UK and around the globe.
Job description:
Did you know that the MOD is proposed to be exempt from the Building Safety Regulator process for high-risk buildings?
Well, now is an exciting time to join the DIO as part of its Joint Competent Authority team as we look to implement the principles of the Building Safety Regulator for high-risk buildings across the MOD built estate.
Working in a team you will use your Building Control background to assist in the delivery of licensing MOD high risk buildings for fire and structural safety, working with internal safety regulators and across government to ensure MOD meets the intent of the Building Safety Regulator process.
Your role will develop as the Joint Competent Authority develops and will be varied to include reporting to ministers, writing MOD policy, carrying out building and person assessments, assessing competency requirements, reviewing emerging construction issues and assurance tasks.
The main base for DIO is in Whittington, Lichfield, however DIO has offices across the UK and the location of the post can be discussed during the interview.
This role will also involve travel to sites across England therefore flexibility to be able to travel when needed for on-site visits is necessary.
