GARDENING VOLUNTEER

PURPOSE OF POST:
To assist the Business Centre Coordinator with the garden up-keep at Faraday House, Eastbourne, East Sussex.


ACCOUNTABLE TO:
The Faraday House Business Centre Coordinator


LOCATION:
Age UK East Sussex business facility at Faraday House, Eastbourne


HOURS: 1 day per week for 2 hours


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To support the Faraday House Business Centre Coordinator by ensuring the gardens and grounds are kept neat and tidy.


Specific Tasks

  • To provide gardening support to the Faraday House Business Centre Coordinator.
  • To carry out gardening activities according to the Faraday House Business Centre Coordinator instructions.
  • To ensure that all health and safety, lone working and other policies and safeguards are adhered to at all times.
  • To ensure all tools / equipment are in good working order and safe to use; maintained as per the manufacturer's instructions; and they are used for their intended purpose.
  • Maintain a clean and safe role environment.
  • Attend compulsory training, including, Health and Safety, and Fire Prevention.
  • To be an ambassador for the Charity.

Skills and Attributes needed:


  • Experience of general gardening activities.
  • Follow safety information and instructions in accordance with the risk assessment.
  • Reliability and honesty.
  • Listening and communication skills.

As a volunteer we would ask you to:

  • Ensure a clean and safe gardening environment, in accordance with all Age UK East Sussex policies including but not limited to: Health and Safety, Fire Safety, Security, Data Protection, Confidentiality, and Equality and Diversity.
  • Be reliable and conscientious in your volunteer role.
  • Liaise closely with the Faraday House Business Centre Coordinator and ensure that they are informed of any changes to the normal arrangements or instances you cannot be available.
  • Treat all Faraday House clients with dignity and respect.
  • Participate in regular one to one supervision sessions.
  • Escalate ANY safeguarding concerns to the Faraday House Business Centre Coordinator (as soon as is practicable).
