Staff Finders are recruiting now for an Employment Services Assistant (Level 3) to join our prestigious and established client in Beverley.

This is a fixed term contract from Monday 31st July Friday 29th March 2024 working Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (total of 37 hours per week)

Salary of £11.18 per hour, paid weekly.


The purpose of the role is to act as a point of contact in the provision of a high quality and responsive employment services advice centre across the Council.

Your main duties will include but are not limited to:

  • To act as the initial point of contact for all incoming telephone calls on matters relating to staff terms and conditions of employment, and Council policies and procedures. To respond to the majority of these contacts having first undertaken the necessary research, only filtering/directing calls to appropriate officers where necessary (excluding iTrent system admin queries)
  • To act as the interface between customers (internal and external) in providing a high quality employment advice centre in respect of all enquiries regarding pay and employment related queries (including recruitment and completion of third party claims)
  • To provide an advice centre service to managers for advice and guidance with respect to Council policies and procedures.
  • To respond to queries and give advice in respect of pay matters from employees and liaise with the Employment Services Transactional Team where necessary
  • To implement the pay and HR implications of the Total Pay and Reward Strategy and processing approved Decision Records including changes to terms and conditions, and maintaining accurate records, to ensure the integrity of the I Trent system whilst liaising with the Employment Information Team
  • To provide a timely system for dealing with the appointment process, including issuing/amending statements of main terms as required
  • Knowledge of employment terms and conditions, and pay legislation.
  • Awareness of Data Protection Act and other relevant Codes of Practice
  • Experience of complaint handling/resolution
  • Knowledge of local government terms and conditions of employment/council policies and procedures
  • Experience of working in a Pay / HR environment
  • Knowledge of income tax, NI, SSP, maternity pay etc
