Fixed Term Contract
Purpose
To actively engage in the mooring/unmooring of vessels, the movement of vehicles and passengers through the Port, operating plant and equipment safely and responsibly
Accountabilities
- To work safely and responsibly in all aspects of the role. Assist in the compilation of Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work and participate in Tool Box Talks
- Authorised to take part in mooring/unmooring operations and to operate cargo handling plant and port infrastructure including Front Loading shovels, Fork Lift Trucks, Skidsteers, telehandlers, tugmasters, RoRo ramp and passenger access bridge.
- To work as part of the ferry handling team and assist in general port operations and stevedoring.
- Ensure good housekeeping on the Port as directed by supervisors
- Work flexibly to permit full operational benefit of labour
Skills, experiences, qualifications and competencies
Essential
- To work in compliance with the
ABP Safety, Environmental and Security policies - Aptitude to learn new skills and have a flexible outlook
- Ability to fit into and enhance the existing Plymouth operations team
- Be physically fit and be able to carry out manual tasks
Ideal
- Existing Licence holder for operational plant
- Previous experience of working in a port or other similar marine environment
