About the role:

Wavemaker Commerce is the dedicated commerce specialism within Wavemaker UK.

We are a team of experts, working with clients to develop holistic commerce strategies across marketplaces, d2c and social commerce.

Our work touches all parts of our client organisation and is firmly entrenched in the Wavemaker product team.


The UK practice has long been seen as a leader amongst the markets delivering varied and scaled activation and consulting projects for clients such as Danone, Church and Dwight, ELF, Campari, Henkel and more.

As such our UK practice is increasingly viewed as the template for how we scale globally.


We are looking to expand the team due to recent new client wins and expanding scopes on existing clients and we are looking for an ecommerce lead to join the growing team, help drive growth for our clients and continue to develop our commerce proposition to be best in the market.


In this role, you will:


  • Lead the commerce maturity of our clients, through the Commerce Maturity Framework and WM-Operating System, delivering a set of indicators and actions, that drive growth and ensure our clients are futurefit.
  • Be an effective communicator and storyteller that can inspire, educate and influence clients around the commerce landscape and strategy.
  • Have control of the overall commerce investment and ensure WM commercial considerations are taken into account.
  • Collaborate with other specialisms and product owners to identify new opportunities to advance our clients through their commerce maturity.
  • Work 'upstream' with Strategy & Planning to ensure provocative planning is translated into commerce strategy and ensuring that commerce related insights inform proactive planning.
  • Develop new ecommerce capabilities across social commerce and D2C.
  • Working on new business pitches and bringing the strongest Digital solutions to our pitch RFI, RFP and presentations.
  • Be a self starter with an entrepreneurial approach and spirit.

Core skills:
Retail and Marketplaces

  • Understand the role of data strategy and adtech in commerce.
  • Guides, alongside the client, bottomsup and topdown planning and vision on retailers/marketplaces.
  • Pioneers and develops POVs, bestinclass guidelines, and gotomarket solutions for our retail/marketplace clients.
  • Drives continuous improvement on retail media based on businessbased KPIs, competitive landscape, and market opportunity.
Communication and presentation

  • Owns the delivery of highimpact Commerce communications. Successfully represents the business by delivering emerging Commerce data and information in interesting and engaging ways to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Can expertly communicate financial, creative, and conceptual strategies through compelling storytelling that unifies internal and external teams to drive business forward.
Stakeholder Relationships

  • Leads efforts to gather and disseminate intelligence about the client to ensure deep understanding in order to predict and meet their business needs.
  • Strategically nurtures relationships with key decisionmakers by helping them successfully navigate through critical business changes and address complex issues in their businesses.
  • Demonstrates expert understanding of the business successes, challenges, and strategic objectives; draws from experience to evaluate solutions from the business' perspective and provide advice regarding potential opportunities and risks.
  • Work in partnerships with all relevant stakeholders, etc. to ensure communication plans reflect full breadth of GroupM consumer intelligence/insight
Media Investment Planning

  • Applies expert understanding to forecast future investment trends.
  • Drives high impact media initiatives that position GroupM competitively in the market.
  • Actively exploits and optimizes opportunities to achieve sustained improvements in Commerce performance.
  • Leads Commerce in pitches.
