North West Recycling, Cumbria's leading waste management supplier are actively recruiting for a Site Supervisor to join our team.

We employ over 100 staff, operate over 25 vehicles, and deploy over 2500 skips and containers from our 30-acre purpose-built waste management, skip hire and recycling facility near Carlisle, in Cumbria.

As a family run business, we are committed to helping our customers and partners to better, more sustainably manage their waste.

Our aim is to fully close the circular journey of the waste produced, through our ability to manage the entire process - skip hire and business waste collection through to recycling and full material recovery.

The Role

To contribute to the continued efficient, cost effective, safe and environmentally considerate control of the Waste Treatment Plant by utilising operational staff and resources effectively.

Responsibilities and duties to include:
-

To give daily direction to operational staff;
To ensure effective, efficient and safe use of resources;
Working with the Maintenance Supervisor ensuring Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive work is completed in a timely manner;
To develop ways of measuring and improving operational activities;
Deputise for the Site Manager when required;
Supervise all site operations on Saturday (on a rota basis);
Working effectively and safely with members of operations and external contractors;
Monitoring and assisting with the area standards and cleanliness;
Participate in building and maintaining a strong health and safety culture within the organisation and people.

Qualifications and Skills

Waste processing knowledge (desirable).
Process Machinery knowledge (essential).
Product awareness (essential).
Leadership skills (essential).
Able to operate all mobile plant (essential).
Good standard of literacy and numeracy (essential).
Good organisational time management skills (essential).
Good verbal and written skills able to communicate at all levels (essential).

The Package
The role is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday plus 1 in 4 Saturdays of 12 hours.

The working hours will be based on a 4-week shift pattern covering the following:

Week 1- 6:30am to 3:00pm;

Week 2- 2:45pm to 11:15pm;

Week 3- 6:00am to 2:30pm;

Week 4- 2:15pm to 10:45pm.

Competitive salary starting at £40,000 per annum dependent upon experience and skill set.

20 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays. An additional day holiday for every year of service up to an extra 10 days.
