SEMH Support Worker


We are currently recruiting for a support worker to help students both in the classroom and at an alternative provision.

If you have a residential care or support worker background and want to work in schools or colleges with young people with additionalneeds.


Your role will include:


Being the secure person for a designated group of students/form group by supervising and providing particular support, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.


  • Developing a holistic approach to meeting Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, enabling learners to make good progress by working with teachers, other support staff, families and external agencies.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans, Risk Assessments and Therapy Care programmes for a specific students/groups.
  • Establishing therapeutic relationships with students and interact with them according to individual needs.
  • Promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all students and encouraging students to interact with others and engage in activities led by teachers.
  • Setting challenging and demanding expectations and promote selfesteem and independence.
  • Helping students develop resilience and independence, both learning in lessons and forming positive relationships with peers and staff.
  • Using strategies, in liaison with teaching staff to support students to achieve learning goals.
  • Being a reflective practitioner, evaluating and improving own practice in order to take teaching and learning forward.
  • Undertaking any other task deemed appropriate by the Headteacher
