Purpose:


To develop and lead delivery of Bigham's Technical and Quality strategy from sourcing to consumer, ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality and ensuring conformance with Food Safety, Legislative and Customer requirements.


Location:
London or Somerset (minimum 2 days per week at each Kitchen)


Key Accountabilities

  • Act as a member of the Operations Leadership Team, contributing to the creation and delivery of strategic and operational planning that will deliver growth and improvements in performance
  • Provide direction to the wider technical team, creating an environment that empowers and develops individuals, encourages learning and supports career growth

Through effective line management and established QMS and HACCP systems:

  • ensure compliance with legislative, customer and internal systems that underpin Brand standards
- drive food safety and quality improvements

Harmonise and bring aligned best practice across both kitchens including QMS, GMP, technical training

  • Promote and drive an improvement in food safety culture across the Production Kitchens through an 'audit ready' mindset
  • Contribute to the gatekeeping and launch process to ensure appropriate actions are taken to maintain and enhance ingredient and finished recipe quality
  • Drive complaint reduction with both "lagging" and "leading" indicators across the Kitchens
  • Lead the supplier management process to achieve best quality ingredient supply, including a risk balanced supplier audit/visit programme
  • Develop strategic and longterm relationships with customers, suppliers and third parties, e.g. EHO, FSA, Sedex
Support the Crisis / incident management process acting as chair of incident response team on all food safety and quality related incidents


Experience

  • Experience in a senior food safety/ technical role in a multisite food manufacturing business, ideally in a premium, chilled multicomponent environment
  • Ability to work and lead crossfunctionally, with for example NFD, Technical, Commercial, People teams, Ops, Finance etc Knowledge of produce and/or protein sourcing, processing and relevant food safety controls
  • Demonstrable experience of leading and developing teams
  • Experience of BRC audit standards and managing relationships with UK retail customers
Managed budgets and understand key drivers of business performance
