Description

We're looking for an enthusiastic and experienced comms professional to support our housing improvement journey as we transform services across the board.

From rebuilding estates to raising standards in repairs, we're working to provide all residents with homes they are proud to live in, and make sure they are treated with care and respect.

Residents and their experiences have shaped the wide-ranging improvement programme we are delivering - we want to keep them, and all our staff and partners, informed and involved in the changes we are making, every step of the way.

That's where you'll come in.

Based in the corporate communications team, you'll work closely with colleagues in housing to take the lead on the internal and external communications strategy for the directorate.

With a strong track record in developing and delivering successful comms campaigns, you'll be skilled in tailoring complex information to a range of diverse audiences, and planning news and content to achieve maximum impact.

You'll be a first-class writer, and confident producing high-quality content, including video, for the full range of council channels, from Insta to the staff intranet.

As this role includes media relations, we're looking for someone who is experienced in briefing journalists on high profile issues, working at pace to meet deadlines and providing advice to senior managers and councillors.

You'll need to form excellent links with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, from staff and councillors, to our independent Housing Improvement Board and above all residents - so enthusiasm for working with local communities is a must.

1 year fixed term / secondment role 36hrs per week

Closing date 31st March at 11:59pm

As users of the disability confident scheme, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the advertised role.

Croydon council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment.
