My client based within the charity sector are currently recruiting for a Finance Officer to join their team and support the finance function.

Reporting directly into the Finance Manager the role will include:

  • Sales ledger
  • raising and consolidating invoices
  • Purchase ledger obtaining authorisations, coding invoices and posting to the software
  • Compiling payment rungs and setting up payments
  • Setting up pre payments and accruals
  • Processing company credit card and staff expenses
  • Maintaining the fixed asset register
  • Preparing and posting month end journals
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts
  • Assisting with year end audit queries
  • Preparing monthly cost centre level reports
  • Preparing VAT returns
  • Assisting with year end
  • Cashbook and banking reconciling bank accounts and downloading bank statements
  • Setting up monthly payroll and supplier payment runs
  • Ad hoc banking
  • Checking mail, scanning and distribute
  • Order and control stationery and sundries
  • Being first point of contact for other teams on finance issues
  • Assisting and supporting the Finance Manager as necessary

Key skills:

  • Strong orgnisational skills and attention to detail
  • Good communication and a team player
  • Able to work on own initiative

Essential skills:

  • AAT Member or equivalent
  • GCSES in Maths and English
  • Very strong MS Excel skills.
  • Experience of finance in an SME
  • Extensive use of either Sage/Zero/Quickbooks
