We are looking for an inspiring Teaching Assistant and a specialist in supporting students with Social Emotional and Mental Health Needs to join our Personalised Learning Centre at Bristol Brunel Academy.

Full Time, Permanent, Term Time Only plus Insets. Actual starting salary is £22,331.

What we are looking for:


We are looking for a Teaching Assistant SEMH to assist in the educational, personal and social development of designated students under the direction and guidance of the Inclusion Manager who leads the Personalised Learning Centre supporting students with SEMH needs.


The position would be suited to someone possibly with an interest in seeking school-based experience working alongside class teachers, the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator, other SEN specialists and parents.


Your duties will specifically include:

  • Working with the Personalised Learning Centre and Learning Support Team providing quality learning, social and emotional development for vulnerable children, including students who have a range of special educational needs and/or behavioural needs.
  • Establish and develop effective support relationships with designated students both 1 to 1 and in small groups, guiding them to ensure they make progress in line with their specific learning objectives.
  • Taking a role in the facilitation of the Academy's approach to behaviour; including covering the Safety Net, fixed term suspension provision and associated admin.
  • Leading the facilitation and supervision for students to complete academic work by helping to build confidence and support students to improve their own selfesteem as a learner.
  • Facilitate mentoring sessions with key students with identified and personalised targets, which are to be reviewed with students and their parents/carers.
  • The planning and delivery of highquality interventions in small groups or one to one.
  • Assessing and effectively track progress within these interventions.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, Learning Support Leadership and Senior Leadership to ensure effective identification, support and progress for all students.
