Description

This is a fixed term appointment, initially for a period of one year but with the possibility to extend for a further year.

The post is designed to support undergraduate teaching as well as supporting and gaining experience within general medicine. Appointees will be expected to participate in the on-call rota in medicine.

Post-holders will teach medical students in both the hospital and university settings and will have opportunity to deliver teaching and mentorship to doctors in training.

The post will involve occasional travel to Warwick Medical School and Buckingham Medical School as well as NHS Partnership Trusts.

Opportunities are available to be involved in assessment and evaluation of students. The skills of teaching and assessment are increasingly recognised as essential for trainees in medical specialities at all levels

Warwick Medical School and Buckingham Medical School have a range of postgraduate courses in medical education which are accessible on a modular basis and can be used to obtain a qualification in medical education.

In order to support the medical educational element of the post the Trust will make funding available to support up to three modules per year in a full-time post and pro-rata for less than full-time.

With our central location and great transport links we're closer than you might think.

We are located in the heart of England with easy access to the motorway network and a good railway service.

Warwickshire is accessible from a number of nearby cities including Birmingham, Oxford and Worcester.

Surrounded by a collection of picturesque towns and villages, there is always a lot to see and do across the county.

Numerous sport and leisure venues, theatres, parks and great shopping facilities make Warwickshire an idyllic place to work and live.

Post-holders will be expected to participate in a general medical on-call rota, compliant with the terms of the 2016 Junior Doctor's contract.

Further information on the on-call rota is available upon request from Medical Workforce.

During non-clinical weeks, post-holders will have up to 4 hours per week (pro rata) of personal development time which can be used to arrange sessions in their own specialty to allow them to continue their professional development.

In addition to the on call rota post-holders will be expected to provide support over the period of winter pressures (exact dates may vary).

This will be on a rotational basis, eg two weeks over the winter month period, with the exact dates arranged in consultation with the CEF team.
