Description of Department:
This role is part of an innovative unit, the Victim Contact Unit (VCU) which sits within the Fraud Operations Team.
This Unit has been created to support the National Fraud Investigation teams, with the aim to provide centralised services to victims of fraud involved in cases that are being investigated by the City of London Police.
Since 2008 City of London Police have been the national lead police force for fraud and are responsible for fraud investigations within the square mile and also nationally as Lead Force.
The Fraud Squads investigate many of the UK's most complex, significant and high profile cases of fraud, working in partnership with local, national and international forces, counter fraud agencies and public and private sector bodies.
The focus is on dismantling organised crime gangs that are targeting people across the UK, returning the proceeds of crime to victims and raising public awareness of major crime threats.
There are 3 fraud teams who carry out fraud investigations in conjunction with the Money Laundering Investigation Unit and the Asset Recovery Team.
This role will primarily be to provide continued case information and support to victims of economic crime whilst the investigation is ongoing - ensuring their rights as a victim under the Victims Code of Practice are being met.
As part of National Lead Force Operations, the role may also include providing victim management on behalf of other forces, external agencies.
