Head of Operations


Reporting to the Director - Energy & Transportation, this senior role of Head of Operations is responsible for the go-to-market strategy and end-to-end management of a sole distributor and aftermarket service and parts provider for a major diesel enginemanufacturer for several markets including agricultural, construction, material handling, power generation, and industrial in the UK and Ireland.


The Head of Operations is to augment the success and experience of the existing team to execute and continuously develop the strategy.

This role will provide strong leadership in developing an atmosphere of energy, motivation and commitment from the organisationtowards its business objectives.


Major Job Functions:

  • Drive profitable and sustainable revenue growth through the development and implementation of a customer centric strategy that places customer experience, innovation and engineering at its heart
  • Mentor, manage and develop an existing and future high performing team. Provide energy, motivation and direction. Set and monitor achievement against stretch targets and objectives
  • Align with their OE sister company on strategic priorities, develop and own growth plans and targets within a ROIC framework, understand and establish best in class distributor capabilities
  • Govern robust and effective approach to sales planning, forecasting and execution to optimise invested capital returns
  • Analyse and drive sales penetration across key customers and markets. Capture customer insight and use to inform focused relationship development strategies and behaviours

Accountability:

  • Deliver revenue, gross profit, SG&A and EBIT commitments
  • Lead the development and execution of the organisation strategy
  • Drive profitable business growth across all business lines
  • Advocate the delivery of consistently high level of customer experience
  • Drive best practice in sales
  • Build a diverse and inclusive team with high levels of employee engagement
  • Foster productive relationships with the OE supplier and key suppliers
  • Ensure full compliance with HSEQ regulations
  • Sales target for approx. £30£40 million

Knowledge requirement:

  • Practical knowledge of a customer service and sales organisation
  • Awareness of corporate industrial distribution businesses and OEMs
  • Able to compile and analyse data and metrics and make decisions on strategic direction
  • Strong commercial awareness in a similar industry


To support this position, you will ideally be degree qualified, ideally engineering related with a post graduate qualification such as an MBA would be beneficial.

You should have demonstrable involvement in successfully managing growth in a similar sectorand experience in leading high energy sales teams.


In addition have a demonstrable track record of delivering sustainable and profitable revenue growth through the development and implementation of strategy and leadership of a high performing team.

You will be able to provide evidence of being an advocateof, and conduit for, transformational change within an organisation in terms of its response to external market dynamics, customer expectations and disruptive technologies.

Able to point to their role in leading behavioural change to engender collective enthusiasmand accountability towards new and ambitious business goals
