Do you have the energy, drive and enthusiasm to deliver and oversee initiatives that motivate thousands of young people to take part in impactful development activities and volunteering opportunities? In this role we are looking for a Youth Engagement Coordinator to be an integral part of our Youth Engagement Team helping to support recruitment across all JLGB programmes and awards.


The core function of this role is to support the Youth Engagement Manager to widen participation in JLGB Weekly Local groups, Events, Camps and Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) ensuring all targets and objectives are met.

Thanks to recent funding, JLGB has increased capacity to accelerate the re-opening of existing weekly local groups and drive forward with the opening of new ones.

As part of a nationwide project you will support local development workers to grow and provide enhanced opportunities to Jewish young people.

In supporting the Volunteer Manager, you will help grow Adult Volunteer recruitment to ensure we have a delivery team to support our young people.

We are looking for someone who has experience in youth engagement and recruitment projects.

You will be a passionate, persuasive and dynamic ambassador for our charity by engaging with young people to increase participation in JLGB programmes and activities.

You will be organised, a great team player, inspirational and good at promotion and able to engage young people.

This role will involve public speaking and presenting so you must be a confident face-to-face communicator.

This is an exciting position within our team, and offers you the opportunity to support the growth of JLGBs offer and support young people into our activities.


Responsibilities will include:


  • Support the planning, delivery and evaluation of youth engagement and recruitment projects
  • To help recruit participants and volunteers to take part in and deliver JLGB's programme of activities for members
  • To support the expansion and development of local JLGB groups with a focus on areas with no existing provision
  • Deliver recruitment campaigns for parents and prospective participants
  • Support the development of 'youth voice' in promotion and recruitment activities
  • Working with colleagues ensure programmes and activities, new and existing, are relevant and respond to the needs of Jewish young people to promote deeper engagement
  • To support the attainment of agreed objectives, targets and funding criteria
  • Work to increase young people's participation in volunteering and social action through e
    VOLve, with specific delivery targets for each award, using a range of digital systems to keep effective and up to date records.
  • Maintain good working relationships with external organisations and professionals

  • Experience of supporting young people to access activities.
  • Great youth engagement skills
  • Ability to maintain relationships them with people at all levels, professions and situations
  • Outstanding communication and people skills, with high levels of emotional intelligence and resilience
  • Strong written, verbal and numerical skills with the ability to support the creation of compelling reports for funders and grant giving organisations
  • Knowledge of working with CRMs and Microsoft Office
  • A team player, willing to get involved, work collaboratively and flexibly across teams
  • Knowledge of networking, supporting meetings and events
  • Ability to support innovative and creativity, grow ideas that are implemented across your remit

  • A full driving licence and use of own car or motorbike for business purposes

You may also have

  • Experience of working with or in youth organisations
  • Experience of working with individuals from a wide range of cultural and faith backgrounds
Please note this role will also require evening and Sunday work, as well as attending holiday programme residentials.

The ability to travel to project locations within the remit of the role is essential to be able to fulfil the requirements of the position.
