Description

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality care to cardiology patients within an acute hospital setting.

They are responsible for the assessment, development, delivery and evaluation of evidence based individualised patient care within the boundaries of their role.

The post holder will contribute to the continuing development of standards of care including developments of nursing standards and monitoring of outcomes.


You will help to manage the day to day running of the Northampton Heart Centre for both inpatient and elective patients and act as a resource for patients, relatives and staff.

You will work within the Multidisciplinary Team to produce and efficient, safe and well led area for patients to receive high quality care.

The post holder will be expected to continue with their own professional development.

The post-holder will be involved in meeting the physical and psycho-social needs of the patients within the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory and Recovery Area.

The post holder may also be required to co-ordinate the running of the labs on a daily basis. The post holder will provide their department with a professional focus on clinical excellence.

The heart centre is a highly specialised department with a large amount of learning opportunities. The heart centre offers interventional cardiac procedures to the wider population of Northamptonshire. Offering pacemakers, complex pacing devices, Angiography to complex angioplasty, including rotablation.

we also offer less invasive procedures such as Direct current cardioversions, a variations of Echo's, including TOE, Bubbles and contrast echo's and multiple cardiology diagnostic tests.

We also run our ownNurse-led pre-assessment clinics.

To work in an unsupervised senior capacity within the recovery area, pre-assessment clinics and the cardiac catheter laboratories.

  • To be utilised as a resource by the ward staff/multi-disciplinary teams concerning any aspect of cardiac procedures and individual patient care.
  • To ensure accurate collection of patient data is maintained as per information governance policy.
  • To facilitate clinical audits and research within the unit.
  • Help manage the wellbeing of the team including sickness levels, Return to work interviews, staff training, E-Rostering and appraisals.
