We are currently recruiting for a Prevention Strategic Coordinator to work for Devon and Cornwall Police at their headquarters in Middlemoor, Exeter.

This role will be hybrid working and you will be working Monday to Friday 37 hours a week.

Principal Responsibility

  • Providing specialist advice and knowledge to senior managers, partners, other departments (i.e. CJD) and colleagues as required.
  • To line manage staff, as required, within the portfolio.
  • Acting as Portfolio ambassador promoting your area of business Force wide; managing and delivering an effective internal and external communication plan (including SharePoint website and newsletter) in full liaison with the Corporate Communications & Engagement Department.
  • Undertaking environmental scanning, (both internally and externally); identifying future opportunities and threats; and the planning, introduction and marketing of effective problem solving interventions.
  • Initiating and driving through activity identified at Departmental, Force, regional or national forums. Setting up and running projects to problem solve and deliver resolutions, including the use of stakeholder workshops.
  • Writing Portfolio policies, working practices and briefings that support organisational aims. Ensuring these are reviewed and disseminated to impact on operational service delivery.
  • Acting as a partnership fulcrum for your portfolio representing D&C, engaging negotiating and influencing to achieve mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Representing and chairing at relevant meetings (project boards), preparing and presenting formal papers as required for key stakeholders and briefing senior users on any risks or issues.
  • Identifying training needs and producing training packages as a Subject Matter Expert within your area of expertise.
  • Researching and collating data to enable strategic oversight of delivery. Preparing SME presentations for internal and external use.
  • Maintaining your CPD as required by your first and second line manager. This may require attendance at National Conferences where you will be required to cascade learning internally and externally. Keeping up to date with updated legislation in your portfolio.

Formal Qualifications required

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience.

Essential experience and specialist skills and knowledge

  • Demonstrable experience of developing and introducing strategy and policy and able to evaluate its impact.
  • Proven ability to negotiate with and influence senior managers both internally and externally
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience of delivering problem solving activity within a partnership environment
  • Proven ability to draft accurate, detailed reports
  • Highly proficient in MS Office-Word, Excel and PowerPoint
