It is very important that the post holder has excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks in order of importance.

It also essential to be able to use your own initiative to resolve problems and also work as part of a team in order to meet personal and business objectives.

The Multi-Disciplinary Team plays a key part in delivering a first class service to patients referred into the Trust on a suspected cancer pathway.

Team working is key in meeting this objective.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England.

We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres.

We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate.

High quality patient care is at the heart of everything we do and we strive to ensure every single patient and service user has an exceptional experience with us.

We have one of the most extensive patient experience programmes of any trust in England.

The main element of the role is to track patients referred into the Trust on a suspected cancer pathway.

This involves documenting each step in the Somerset Cancer Register and escalating any investigations which fall outside of the agreed timescales.

It is imperative each pathway is streamlined so that patients can be treated within the nationally agreed Cancer Waiting Times.

You will also be expected to prepare and attend Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings where patients are reviewed by clinical teams and treatment plans are decided.

During these meetings you will operate the video conferencing equipment and record patient outcomes.
