Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a security officer based at our headquarters in Draycott, Derby.

The prospective security officer will join the small security team and work together to provide 24-hour physical security cover for the Draycott site.


Key Responsibilities:


  • To carry out and record site patrol inspections in accordance with written procedures.
  • To work on a 4 on 4 off rotating shift pattern, providing 24/7 security cover to the site
  • To arrive for work in plenty of time to ensure a smooth and efficient handover from the duty officer.
  • To give as much notice in advance to the Senior Security Officer if unable to attend for a rostered shift, so that cover can be arranged.
  • To remain on duty until relieved by another security staff member.
  • To ensure the security post is always manned when personnel are on site and to lock the post when this is unavoidable or during patrols when the site is closed.
  • To monitor CCTV system and act in accordance with written procedures.
  • To serve on the company incident for first aid often being the sole first aider on site.
  • To ensure you do not present yourself for duty if under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • To search vehicles and Company personnel as and when required in line with Company procedures.
  • To carry out actions detailed in the company's flood action procedure.
  • To lock and unlock all offices, production buildings etc in accordance with procedure and factory operating requirements.
  • To set and unset all factory alarms in accordance with factory operating requirements and procedures.
  • To always maintain a smart and professional appearance and manner and remain aloof from other PW Defence personnel.
  • To be responsible for the care and maintenance of all personal equipment issued by the company.
  • To record all findings / observations during shift via daily report sheet and occurrence book and raise service requests as required for any items / issues found during shift, for example defective lights etc.
  • To carry out all duties in line with the department's procedures.
  • To carry out admin duties such as: printing off forms or various types, laminating, issuing inspection sheets, filing and maintenance logs and logbooks etc.
  • To undertake any other duties within the department, that are requested by your line manager to aid the performance of the department. These duties will not be of a greater or more complex nature and level of responsibility that those of the post holder, except with the appropriate mutual agreement and necessary training.
  • To carry out the duties above in a manner that complies with the Health and Safety at Work Legislation that is to work safely and with due regard to health, safety, and welfare of both them and of other employees in the company.
  • Additional responsibilities could be required to be completed at the discretion of Line Manager.

Who are we looking for:


  • Previous Police, Fire Fighting or Armed Forces experience (desirable).
  • Relevant experience in a security environment.
  • Knowledge of security operations and procedures.
  • Decision Taking and Risk Management skills.
  • Strong Analysis and Problem Solving skills.
  • Ability to work on their own initiative.
  • Strong sense of customer focus.
  • A high attention to detail.
  • Good teamwork skills.
  • Strong communicator, both verbal and written.
