Jackson Hogg Supply Chain division are exclusively partnering with a global manufacturing business in Redcar on the appointment of a Purchasing Manager to join their team.
The role would suit a Senior Buyer level professional who is keen to step into a management role and be a functional expert for the business.
This is a full time and permanent role with a competitive salary. Working hours are Monday to Thursday 08:00-16:30 and Fridays 08:00-13:00. Hours can be flexible for the successful applicant.
Benefits include: 25 days holiday plus bank holidays rising on length of service, private medical care, employee discounts and pension matched up to 5%.
Job Role
- Organizing and coordinating the purchasing of direct and indirect materials, from the plant's requirement to the supplier selection and ordering process in accordance with Global Commodity Strategies
- Negotiating contracts with local suppliers and supporting Purchasing in contract negotiations with global suppliers
- Performing local purchasing market research
- Identifying and evaluating local suppliers
- Identifying and implementing cost saving projects for the plant to maintain competitive material prices
- Driving forward and carrying out activities to achieve the annual Purchasing KPIs at plant level
- Supporting during the supplier release and development process
- Carrying out the RFQs and negotiations with local direct material suppliers for local serial projects
- Organizing the collection of all relevant purchasing information which is required to purchase the plant's requirements
- Developing supplier contracts in coordination with CU Purchasing and the Legal department
The Person/Requirements
- Ideally have previous experience in a senior purchasingbased role
- Preferrable been working in purchasing / procurement role(s) within a highvolume environment such as manufacturing/engineering for a number of years.
- Have the ability to work collaboratively, along with excellent communication, negotiation and IT skills.
- Knowledge of MRP systems and Excel is essential.
- Have excellent project management, problemsolving and time management skills.
- Be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, demonstrating a flexible approach when needed.
- Hold a formal CIPS qualification, however this is not essential as the company would support the roleholder through this process.
