This is an exciting new opportunity to work in close partnership with the Bank's Technology Directorate (reporting into the People Directorate) as part of a major strategic change programme across Central Services (including the Technology Directorate).


As the Technology People Partner, you will work closely with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and be part of the Technology senior leadership team (TLT) to build local people capabilities in Technology, develop and implement forward-looking people planning and talent strategies which enable the Technology objectives and the Bank's Mission.

The role holder will also work with people specialists across the People Directorate to ensure effective and co-ordinated support for the Technology Directorate.


As the Technology Directorate undergoes significant transformational change, this role will be critical to align the people strategy in Technology, drive the people change initiatives (together with the TLT) in line with the wider business strategy and the Bank objectives.


This is a new role working in close partnership with the Technology business area, whilst reporting directly to the Head of Talent Acquisition & Development (in the People Directorate, who owns the Bank's employee value proposition and drives the formation of an inspiring and cohesive people strategy).

You will develop meaningful and collaborative relationships in Technology, so that you are trusted to shape and implement effective people strategies which are tailored to the Technology Directorate, to build organisational and people capability, and alignment with the Bank's overall people strategy.


You will work in collaboration with specialist colleagues in the People Directorate to provide skilled, professional advice and guidance on people practices such as restructuring, addressing gaps in skills and capabilities, effective long-term workforce planning, resourcing, talent development and succession planning.

You will also drive effective change, results and span boundaries effectively, providing a bridge back from Technology to the expert capabilities in the wider People Directorate, (and other key stakeholders such as Finance, other parts of Central Services) including in organisational design, employee relations, talent, recruitment, learning and development and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).


You will act as the main point of people expertise for the Technology business area, by providing the support required as part of the implementation of specific people approaches, policies and strategies designed by the People Directorate.


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Building trusted relationships with the senior leadership team across Technology and the wider Bank including (not limited to) the People Directorate, other parts of Central Services and Finance.
  • Developing a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Technology Directorate's priorities, within the wider organizational context, and the relevant external environment, together with the Bank's business areas and priorities, and the consequent people implications.
  • Providing professional advice and guidance which respects the Bankwide people policies whilst enabling the Directorates strategic priorities and business objectives from a people perspective; leveraging the Employee Relations team to ensure support for colleagues and people managers in managing employment risks.
  • Influencing the senior leadership team/Technology Directorate management team/s around the people agenda to maximise the efficient and effective deployment of resources, bring innovative thinking and drive change management to deliver results.
  • Working through others to implement projects that address the workplace environment, employee engagement or retention issues within Technology, particularly in response to staff feedback and the annual Viewpoint survey.
  • Drawing on other teams to support with meaningful DE&I data and other peoplerelated MI to ensure that the Technology Directorate makes datadriven decisions and develops proactive plans to address emerging issues.
  • Questioning and challenging colleagues to get to the root of people and business issues and ensuring local accountability for the provision of high standards of people leadership.
  • Maintaining and growing your own professional capability; acting as a mentor and role model to colleagues.

  • A proven background of people/HR change expertise bringing your knowledge, insight and change management skills into an evolving technology industry/environment and/or experience supporting technical/digitalfirst organisations/functions within a business/organisation highly preferred.
