SEMH Teaching Assistant**
Location:Dorking


Contract Type:12 weeks temp to perm


Hours:
Full-Time 36 hours (8:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday; 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Wednesday)


Salary:
Competitive depending on experience

We are seeking a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team in this vital role.


Key Responsibilities:

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant you will be responsible for:

  • Providing one-on-one and group support to students aged 9-16 who have social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
  • Assisting teachers in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to help students overcome barriers to learning.
  • Monitoring and documenting student progress and behaviour.
  • Collaborating with teachers, parents, and external agencies to provide comprehensive support.
  • Promoting social and emotional wellbeing in the school community.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A genuine passion for helping young people overcome social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
  • Relevant experience working with children or adolescents, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • An empathetic and patient approach to student support.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to the changing needs of our students.
  • Be resilient
  • Provide details for us to complete reference checks prior to employment. _
  • Provide an Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one (which Pink Tile can assist with). _
