Security Officer (days) (April 2024)

We are looking for a Security Officer to join our Security Team within the Library's Business Support Division.

The working pattern for the post is Tuesday to Saturday revolving around a four shift pattern as follows: 08.30am to 16.30pm or 10.30am to 18.30pm or 06.30am to 14.30pm or 08.00am to 16.00pm.

This is a day shift only post.

The Team is responsible for a diverse number of activities which support the safety and security of Colleagues, Library users, the buildings, and the Collections of the National Library of Scotland.

The Team is also instrumental in dealing with extraordinary events both of a Security and Safety nature that require an immediate response.

We are looking for a great team player who can also work with minimum supervision if required.

You will be a demonstrably honest and reliable person and be flexible in your approach to work and be comfortable with change.

Previous experience of security work would be an advantage as would understanding health and safety and fire safety issues, along with possessing a willingness to learn and be open to new ideas.

You should hold a driving license and either have a First Aid certificate or agree to work towards gaining one in your first year with us.

You will be proficient with software such as Office 365 and other computer-based systems.
