It is an exciting time to join the Radiology Department at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust.

We have been awarded the funding to support the vision for the West Essex Community Diagnostics Centre (CDC) in providing timely access to diagnostics for all of the West Essex population, tackling health inequalities and achieving the 28-day Faster Diagnosis Standard (FDS) for all potential cancer and non-cancer patients

PAHT sites, including St Margaret's Hospital, Epping (SMH) and Herts' and Essex Hospital, Bishops Stortford (HEH) via a hub and spoke approach will see better co-location of diagnostic services by offering streamlined diagnostic pathways with fewer appointments in a modern diagnostic setting

An entry-level opportunity is available within the Radiology department for a Clerical Officer to join the team.

You will provide administrative support to the department covering all sites across the Trust, as well as reception cover at our reception desk.


As the face of the department you will meet, greet and direct service users, registering attendances on the CRIS system and cover incoming/outgoing telephone calls.

You will also maintain and update relevant databases as well as the transfer of clinical images.

  • Updating and inputting data using Trust software (such as CRIS, Note Tracking and COSMIC) ensuring confidentiality and data protection protocols are adhered to and that information is uptodate and correct
  • Assisting wider admin team with the retrieval of patient notes which are required to perform interventional procedures within the department
  • Following departmental procedures when dealing with outside medical centres, doctors' surgeries and other Trusts/agencies, to protect patient confidentiality
  • Receiving patients and visitors on arrival to the department
  • Booking "walk in" examinations onto CRIS
- "Attending" patients for appointments on CRIS

  • Receiving orders from electronic requesting system and dealing with them as per protocol
  • Answering the telephones on Reception and dealing with enquiries
  • Being the first line of contact for patients complaints
  • Dealing sympathetically with patients who may be unwell, unhappy or distressed
