The Transport Department at MDC control all finished goods movements from all manufacturing and storage points within the UK. Also a growing amount of inbound supplies to the manufacturing sites replacing the need for third party hauliers. All activity is time sensitive with performance measured against key KPI's.

The role holder is required to be both proactive and reactive.

The role holder will be required to use systems such as SAP, MDC WMS, Microlise and Manugistics as well as Microsoft Exel, Word and Powerpoint.

It is important the role holder is computer literate and confident to learn new systems.

The role holder receives daily movement requirements from the planning teams.

This will consist of customer volume from over 350 different delivery locations, factory clearance and third party revenue generating work.

Once created the plans will need to be optimised and managed, as changes will occur on a frequent daily basis due to factors such as traffic, customer delays, factory demands, fleet availability and driver absence.


The role holder will be required to work Mon-Fri on a three shift pattern , , and if required be flexible on start and finish times.


The role holder is required to work effectively under pressure in a fast moving and dynamic environment and make prompt decisions which not only protect customer service but also ensure factories remain clear of finished goods stock and are also supplied with raw materials as per the delivery schedule.


The role involves operating within the confines of the TGWU 'Black Book' Union Agreement, to individual pladis site rules, ensuring Health & Safety laws are complied with, operating to ISO and DSOP procedures as well as managing driver performance and conformance to plan.


Co-ordinators will be the first line of management for the driver group, where functions such as brief (start of driver day) and debrief (end of drivers day) are completed.


Coordinators will have to work closely with the transport shift managers to ensure all daily, weekly and monthly actions are complete.
