CAMPAIGNS OFFICER

Circa £35,000 per annum

Hours: 35 hours per week.

We're open to a variety of flexible working options including job share, compressed hours, and flexible hours with core hours of 10am - 4pm.


Location:
Stratford, London with high-flexibility (1-2 days per week in the office)

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Campaigns Officer.

We need you to use your communications skills and mobilise our supporters and the wider public to influence politicians and policymakers across the UK.

Working with the Campaigns Manager and other Officers, you'll develop and deliver our campaign activity through campaign planning and strategy, creative development, digital communications and events.


Our policy department at Cancer Research UK develops evidence-based policy to inform Government decisions related to cancer and research and communicates our views to key decision makers.

We are the largest charitable funder of cancer research in the world, and one of the most trusted charities in the UK.

We are uniquely placed to inform political debate.

We work with Parliamentarians across all four seats of government in the UK - Westminster, Scottish Parliament, the Welsh Government and the Northern Ireland Assembly and Executive.

By doing so, we ensure that their policies tackle the major risk factors for cancer including tobacco, obesity, and alcohol.


Further to this, we focus on a number of other areas of policy including supporting science, access to treatment, early diagnosis and cancer services.

We advocate to ensure that the UK can produce world class research, that people with cancer can access the best available treatments and care and that diagnosing cancer early remains a priority in our health service.

Through our global policy programme, we work with partners around the world to improve global tobacco control and HPV vaccination.


What will I be doing?- Planning and delivering campaigns across different priority policy areas in line with Cancer Research UK's campaigning principles- Plotting out supporter journeys to recruit, retain and activate campaigners across a range of communication channels- Developing bold campaign messaging and creative to drive awareness and engagement with our campaigns- Writing and building innovative campaigning communication and actions using our campaigning tools and databases (training will be provided)- Supporting the development of campaigning materials and events- Coordinating day-to-day management of campaigning work- Evaluating our communications, campaign actions and campaign strategy and developing new insight-led strategies to acquire, retain and mobilise supporters- Involving and representing patients and volunteers in our work, ranging from consultation to co-production- Communicating our campaign work, driving forward campaigns and enhancing the Campaigns team's reputation with supporters, cancer patients, researchers, the wider public and Cancer Research UK staff.


What skills are you looking for?- Effective planning and project management skills with the ability to set and work to deadlines in complex, matrixed environments- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience of producing clear, accurate and convincing communications and/or marketing skills- Ability to use data to analyse and report on communications or campaigning performance- Strong relationship management and influencing skills with the ability to adapt style, build rapport and resolve conflict.

- Demonstrable understanding and/or experience in campaign strategy and influencing at a national level- Skills in campaigning digital tools such as Adobe Campaign, Engaging Networks (or similar) a benefit
