Role's Purpose:

To provide programme design, placement, marketing and consultancy services for Lockton clients in line with agreed account strategies and in accordance with Lockton operating procedures.


Role Responsibilities:


  • Manage client, market and underwriter relationships at an operational level.
  • Understand clients risk profile, business needs and exposures to assist in providing advice on coverage, programme pricing and retention strategy.
  • Assist in overseeing the preparation and issuance of appropriate coverage documentation, including wordings and placement slips within agreed contract certainty deadlines.
  • Identify and manage the use of other Lockton resources/specialist teams.
  • Assist with the resolution of service issues with insurers and other third party providers.
  • Attend Client Strategy Meetings where required.
  • Provide, with oversight, technical reviews (where identified) of insurance programmes for clients, making recommendations for change, where deemed relevant.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of cover written by the major insurers
  • Keep abreast of insurance market developments
  • Constantly monitor the market in order to consider the most appropriate placement strategy for Lockton.
  • Provide support in drafting reports/presentations/bulletins for use both internally and externally.


  • Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing with clients, insurers and other associates.
  • To have and maintain good business relationships with clients, insurers and associates
  • Strong market relationships including key underwriters / insurers.
  • Strong excel skills. Preferably minimum of intermediate level.
  • Work as a role model in the team and support other team colleagues.
  • Professional and tactful negotiation and persuasion skills to achieve objectives.
  • Proven problemsolving skills, including the ability to resolve unusual and complex issues and then devise actionable solutions
  • Ability to guide and oversee the preparation of a broking presentation that accurately reflects the cover required and meets the clients' demands and needs
  • Ability to compile, analyse and interpret financial information and data to facilitate decision making.
  • Willingness and ability to continue to develop knowledge through formal and informal learning, both internal and external to the company.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for business development.
  • An understanding of the general, legal principles of insurance.
  • An Understanding of insurer rating methods for each class of insurance.
  • An understanding of risk management concepts and when these are useful to clients.
  • An understanding of insurer products and specialisms.
  • Experience in marketing and servicing the insurance needs of clients.
  • Fully understands the concept, issues and overall impact of market pricing.
  • Understanding of a client's business issues, insurance needs and expectations.
  • An understanding of regulatory controls and procedures relating to commercial property business
  • An understanding of and adherence to Lockton standards and procedures.
  • Ability to manage time, prioritise and ensure that deadlines are met without compromising quality.
