Our Client is a global branded retailer and has recently set up a centre of excellence for ER and would now like to add an experience Employee Relations specialist to their team.


The Senior Employee Relations Advisor is part of the new Employee Relations Centre of Excellence team reporting to the Senior Manager Employee Relations.

You will advise, guide, and coach corporate, supply chain and retail people leaders on all employment matters including policy interpretation, HR procedures, employee conflicts, engaging employees, and performance management.

This role will be expected to collaborate cross-functionally to support a fair and consistent approach to employee relations.


The role:


  • Manage assigned cases & investigations from interview through transition, escalation, and redirection or closure. Make recommendations for remediation, while maintaining accurate and timely case files, documentation and follow up.
  • Provide guidance, coaching and counselling to HR and leadership to ensure the resolution of employmentrelated matters, to include interpretation and administration of company policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Assist with setting up the ER COE creating the process and multiple projects relating to this
  • Drive prompt closure of open cases/concerns.
  • Draft clear and concise investigation reports.
  • Develop and implement investigation plans.
  • Support internal projects and workstreams as requested.
  • Identify and recommend methods to resolve problems, update, and optimise existing processes.
  • Manages the Employee Relations group mailbox and reviews cases submitted by people managers to determine whether the message is regarding a new or existing case and whether it is a tier one or tier two case and allocating accordingly.
  • For attendance and job abandonment cases, creates and reviews attendance trackers, corrective action forms, and other documentation submitted by HR Business Partners.
  • Applies defined policies for corrective actions based on case review and provides recommendations and counsel to people managers regarding the issue.

The person:


  • Degree educated, and ideally L7 HR qualification
  • Progressive ER or related experience within a retail, hospitality, head office of supply chain environment
  • Proficiency in employee and/or industrial relations strategy.
  • Thorough understanding of HR policies and procedures, and knowledge of UK and EU law
  • Ability to be highly collaborative and influential and manage both within and across teams with mínimal direction.
  • Ability to motivate, influence and optimise senior leadership, stakeholders, and peer groups.
  • Ability to flex communication style with different audiences and levels of seniority
  • Works on projects with complexity
  • Identifies possible solutions to a variety of technical problems and takes action to resolve
  • Applies judgment within defined parameters
  • Reviews work for sound reasoning and accuracy
