The role of the Sleep Service Outpatient & Inpatient Waiting List Clerk, is to ensure all patients are scheduled a within the RTT national guidelines and ensure all referrals are actions and added to the correct waiting list.


The Sleep Service team are a team of 6 and all work closely together to deliver the best service possible to all patients.


We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the Respiratory Directorate to work within the Sleep Service to effectively manage the Inpatient and Outpatient waiting list.

You will need to have outstanding organisational and communication skills; work well with staff and the public, and must be able to demonstrate experience of working under pressure and to set deadlines


You will need a keen eye for detail, ensuring databases are accurately maintained and administration processes followed to meet the targets set by both the hospital and the government.

Excellent telephone skills are essential as you will be in constant contact with both staff and patients within our services.

Co-ordinate the processing of new patient tertiary referrals/ERS, escalating any potential delays in offering appointments within agreed timeframes to the office manager

  • Liaising with GP's regarding referral/results to ensure that the minimum data set is recorded
  • Co-ordinate the outcoming of clinics/patients attending clinics appropriately and in a timely fashion both for RTT and financial purposes
  • Have a flexible approach to assisting with the prepping of clinics as and when required
  • Co-ordinate the DNA process and ensure outcomes are appropriately actioned in a timely fashion for the areas responsible for.
  • Assist the office manager with duties such as cancelling/rescheduling/adjusting clinics/management of inpatient services; whether that be regarding patients or the templates themselves
  • Assist the office manager with all patient validation
  • Ensure all inpatients are listed correctly and within the required timeframe
