An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Strategy & Planning Lead to work within NWAS' newly created Strategy, Planning and Transformation Team.

Reporting to the Deputy Head of Strategic Planning and Transformation, the post holder will be responsible for the oversight and co-ordination of NWAS' strategy development and strategic planning activities.

The role will ensure that NWAS has a clear strategic direction of travel and measurable plans in place to oversee business as usual activities, as well as delivery of our longer-term transformation roadmap to achieve our strategic objectives.


The post is considered a senior leadership role within NWAS, therefore the post holder must be able to demonstrate extensive experience of strategic thinking and practical business/ operational planning.

As part of our leadership population, you will be required to promote and role model our Be Think Do leadership philosophy, ensuring that you support team members by being the best leaders we can be for ourselves and each other.


There is an expectation that the post holder will work flexibly across the Strategy, Planning & Transformation department to support the delivery of organisational priorities and objectives.


The post-holder will be based at NWAS' Trust headquarters, Ladybridge Hall in Bolton, however all members of the team are expected to adopt an agile working approach which comprises a mix of home and office working.


North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.


Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.

We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.


Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
