BACKGROUND
Stella Maris is the official maritime agency and charity of the Roman Catholic Church.

As an international Catholic maritime charity for over 100 years, Stella Maris serves the spiritual, pastoral, and practical needs of seafarers, fishers, cruise ship workers, and their families, around the world.

Stella Maris (UK) is seeking a numerate, accurate, organised and motivated individual to support this specialised mission of the Church to the People of the Sea.


MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB


The main purpose of this role is to assist the Fundraising and Communications team, particularly the Individual Giving Manager, with administrative support.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • To assist with producing and sending thank you letters for donations.
  • To assist with running / checking / updating queries (reports) on the Raisers Edge CRM database
  • To access Raiser's Edge and update relevant information on individual records.
  • To be responsible for dispatch of merchandise for purchases made by supporters on the online shop
  • To help maintain an efficient central filing system for Sea Sunday parish donations
  • To assist with the organisation of events when required (e.g. sailing pilgrimage in 2023)
  • To photocopy / scan documents as required.
  • To help with the franking of outgoing post and to ensure the post is ready for collection by Royal Mail, from Reception, at 2.45pm

PERSON SPECIFICATION


The post holder needs to be able to work collaboratively, effectively and efficiently with individuals and organisations, as well as the general public.

The post holder needs to be numerate, accurate, a good communicator, possess good organisational skills, exhibitstrong attention to detail, and enjoy helping to raise money for a charity.

The post holder will be expected to work independently as well as be part of a team.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Understanding of the ministry and mission of Stella Maris
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others (written & oral)
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively with Stella Maris staff, volunteers, and supporters
  • Accuracy, numeracy, organisation, and strong attention to detail.
  • Experience of working with a CRM database is desirable
  • Experience of working for a charity in a gift processing or administrative function is desirable
  • Experience of supporting / organising events is desirable
