About the role

North Northamptonshire Council are looking to recruit Refuse and Recycling Loaders, to work in the Kettering and Corby area.


The job is based out of the Robison Way Depot on Telford Way in Kettering but you could be working in any area of Corby or Kettering.

You will need to be physically fit and able to work in all weathers. A good level of safety awareness is required as you will be working with heavy machinery on busy roads.


You will be working a standard four day week, with the opportunity for overtime on the fifth day when it is available.

Full health & safety and on the job training will be provided.

What will you be doing?

  • Collecting refuse and recycling containers from residential and commercial properties
  • Walking up to an average of 15 miles a day
  • Working in all types of weather conditions
  • Assisting the driver where necessary to safely manoeuvre the collection vehicle
  • Always adhering to health and safety practices
  • Assisting residents when required, with how the refuse and recycling scheme works.
  • Carry out additional duties from time to time, where required.
About you
You must be a reliable and productive person who can work well within a team.

Able to walk long distances, in all weather conditions you will need to be physically able to move bins to and from the collection vehicle.

A good level of safety awareness is essential and you should have good road sense.


As you will be a front facing member of staff good communication skills may be needed, as well as a flexible approach to work in order to deliver the service needed to the public.


Local knowledge and experience of refuse and recycling practices is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

  • We are undertaking consultation with the Trade Unions on terms and conditions and the future NNC pay structure and during this time are appointing new employees on interim spot salaries. You will be advised of the outcome and any impact on your role once this work is complete._
