Development Team Lead Officer to join our Regional Member Support team

Salary:
£31,086 per annum

  • Inclusive of Outer London Weighting

Contract Type:
Fixed Term to 31st December 2023


Working Hours: 35 hours per week

The Development Team Lead Officer:


Working to grow the number of young people and adults in Scouting across Greater London North, and developing projects to support sustainability, and extend reach into areas of deprivation, and growing participation from young people and volunteers fromBlack, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.


You will be supporting the growth of Scouting and increasing positive impact on young people and responsible for leading and delivering Greater London North projects and line manage the project's Development Team Assistants.


Key responsibilities as our Development Team Lead Officer:

  • Work in partnership with the relevant Funded Project Coordinator and Development Team Assistant(s) to ensure the effective and efficient co-ordination of growth projects/initiatives
  • Open new scouting provision in line with the project plan and using local knowledge, contribute to the ongoing development of the project plan as needed
  • In collaboration with the Funded Project Coordinator, recruit, select and appoint Development Team Members in accordance with the needs of the project
  • Advise, support and encourage the volunteers in the project area to search for new opportunities to open new scouting provision, with a particular focus on inclusion and extending reach
  • Advise, support and encourage local Scouting on the retention and recruitment of adult volunteers
  • Advise, support and encourage local scouting to engage with communities currently underrepresented in Scouting
  • Working with the Development Team and local volunteer teams to ensure the effective and safe running of new sections/ groups in accordance with POR and responding to the needs of these sections/ groups

What we are looking for in our Development Team Lead Officer:

  • An understanding of the challenges associated with providing services in local communities (e.g. Youth provision in rural or deprived communities)
  • Ideally is or has been a member of The Scouts
  • Experience of working with volunteer groups outside Scouting
  • Have experience of opening new Scouting provision, or volunteerled community youth activities and provision
